Its a social satire about England in the time of 1800s, and it centers on the effervescent, orphaned and penniless Becky Sharp, and her friends and acquaintances, as she strives to climb the social ladder.

I have been wanting to read this book ever since I watched the Reese Witherspoon movie some years ago. I really liked the movie, due to the story and the actors involved and found it rather charming and funny. It was also a cute movie. And Im a huge sucker for period piece flicks. It made me want to read the book, and now I have finally gotten to it.

I am 5 chapters in and loving it. Its hilariously written, which may or may not have been intentional, but I find it so. Its a rather entertaining read and, I now know the significance of the book being thrown out of the carriage int he opening scenes of the movie( which I admit has puzzled me). I cant believe its taken me this long to start reading this great, classic novel.

Naturally a more comprehensive review will follow once I have finished reading it. But for now I must say that it is awesome and I love it. Well, so far anyway. :D

books i want to read right now

A discovery of witches by Deborah Harkness
Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
For the Win by cory doctorow
on the road by jack kerouac
A Vintage Affair by Isabel Wolff
Juliet by Anne Fortier
Super Sad True Love Story by Gary Shteyngart
Hush, Hush and Crecendo by Becca Fitzpatrick

testing 123

test
